Singapore tries to send express delivery drones important and urgent items

Recently, with the support of the Government of Singapore Express UAV programs, the National University of Singapore will use drones to deliver parcels within their college.

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said it will deliver an important and urgent items by UAVs, such as file. UAVs will receive and unload parcels in place making.

If this experiment is successful, the Singapore Government will continue for the first two experiments: the use of unmanned aerial vehicles to deliver drugs, oil samples, and for the delivery of a ship anchored in the Bay of electronic parts.

CAAS said that the purpose of the experiment is to build two large urban environments and test UAV delivery infrastructure. This will include developing unmanned aerial vehicles, air corridor, fleet management, automatic parcel stations and joint communications system.

It is reported that, CAAS has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus Helicopters. Currently, the company has and the National University of Singapore, working together to carry out the pilot project.

CAAS director Kevin Shum said the Civil Aviation Authority to use UAVs in an urban environment to prepare, these devices will help solve more new social needs.

It is understood that the Singapore Government has set up an inter-departmental committee in 2015 to help some institutions UAV test. These agencies have been using UAVs 25 kinds of tests, including the use of drones to fight dengue outbreaks and clean-up of oil spills.

Kevin Shum said, CAAS hope UAV industry and the public sector benefits, bring happiness to the UAV enthusiasts, but CAAS must ensure that the regulatory system can adapt to these changes to ensure the healthy development of the UAV applications.
